Timeline 2.4.0 Slicer Labels Displaying Unexpectedly

Hello, I'm using Timeline 2.4.0 visualization to create a month slicer for my report.

Here is how it looks in Power BI Desktop. Just yesterday, this displayed exactly as expected. Today I show up and all of a sudden its showing year and quarter labels. Here is how it looks in the web browser to the viewer:

Here are the settings I have chosen. I'm specifically setting the visual to NOT show those data labels (year, quarter) - yet here they are.

Anybody have any ideas?

Hi  all,

Based on the above information, It's a reproducible issue. Due to the new reply policy, I would suggest opening a Support Ticket.

If you are a Power BI Pro or Fabric licensee, you can create a support ticket for free and a dedicated Microsoft engineer will come to solve the problem for you.
It would be great if you continue to share in this issue to help others with similar problems after you know the root cause or solution.

Hello,

same issue here. I noticed that there are different selection possibilities in Service than in Desktop:

I tried editing in Service, but the functionality was a bit off visually and you couldn't resize it correctly.

I am also facing the same problem. I cannot download or update the lastest version in my desktop.

Same.

We tried to update to the new visual on desktop and it still shows 2.4.0.

Also on Service the left scroll bar suddenly appeared and only went away if we resized the height to 165.

Glad I found this thread! Exact same problem occurring in all our reports in PBI Service that use this visual and has been baffling us for the last day or so.

Have tried updating the visual to the lastest version (2.5.11) in desktop, but this still doesn't seem to have the same options under 'Labels' as appear in the service once published and same issue with the Year and Quarter labels unwantedly appearing when they weren't showing in desktop report. Very frustrating!

Keep us posted on the support ticket...

Same issue here !
We have many reports that use the TimeLine Slicer and this can be very disabling.
Could we already know if the problem has been seen, or even know an estimated resolution date please ?

I have received feedback from the support team. This has been identified as bug by the product team and the fix will be rolled out first week February. In the mean time there is a workaround to rebuild this visual in Service (as a new visual) and replace the "broken" visual.
