Tables in PowerQuery editor do not reflect PowerBI data model using Dataverse connector

I have imported a table from Dynamics using the Dataverse connector.  I have transformed one of the tables in PowerQuery, which includes renaming the columns.  When I view the table in PowerBI data model, some columns reflect the display name.

Clearing the cache and reimporting the data does not help.

This appears to have started in May 2023.

September 2022 is fine, April 2023 is fine, May 2023 is broken, June 2023 is broken.

Hi @v-yetao1-msft ,

The issue is with PowerBi Desktop also - do you mean the issue has been fixed and part of the August 2023 release?

Thanks and regards,

Ben.

This has not been fixed.  It is ludicrous that Microsoft would break such a fundamental thing!

What is the fix on this issue @v-yetao1-msft  please.

As I have just connected to a Dataverse connector and some of my fields names have reverted back to the Dataverse names after I changed then in PQ of Desktop!

The bug is back and is affecting reporting with Dataverse again... very irritating. Is there a fix coming soon?

@AlyssaL036 you are right, I noticed this in a report I am building this week, it is not going into production yet, but I did see that the Dimension tables all had the dataverse table names not the names I had given them in PQ!

@v-yetao1-msft Should this be logged as a new issue, as a fix was issued?

Hi @EAD , what version of PowerBi (Desktop) are you using?  Which connector are you using?  I am using the latest (Version: 2.137.1102.0 64-bit (October 2024)) and not experiencing this issue any longer.

Kind regards,

Ben.

Hi @bhalicki ,

Using Version: 2.137.1102.0 64-bit (October 2024), I tried rolling back to the September release.

Only expereince this issue with Dataverse, for all other data sources the standard rename column step works.
Tested ( Excel & SQL ).

Any new reports the standard rename step does not work for Dataverse.
Old datasets or reports the rename step stops working as soon as you make a change.

Note:  For the exisiting Datasets / Reports, these were working fine until last month
The change mentioned was, removed a column, saved and published

Since Microsoft doesn't seem to want to reply to this old thread, I've made a new post detailing the issue hoping it will help!
