Snowflake connector isn't showing views after March 2025 update

After today's update we can no longer see Snowflake views when trying to add a datasource in PBI desktop.  Please fix ASAP! We have not activated the preview connector yet.

Hi @debn, I noticed this new preview feature has automatically been pushed (the setting is turned on in the preview features). Turn off this setting and restart PBI desktop to resolve the issue.

thanks @rschimmel! that worked for us. @Knox_DataMan, it was the first checkbox under preview features for me - it specifically refers to the snowflake connector.

For everyone retrieving data from Snowflake into Power BI, please take note of the following: In the March 2025 version (which most of you will have by now), there is a preview feature: an improved version of the Snowflake connector.

This connector is supposed to work better with large data volumes and uses an ADBC connection instead of ODBC (see documentation).

This "preview feature" was automatically pushed with the last update but, unfortunately, contains a bug. When you try to connect using the new connector and access a Snowflake Server, you will only see the tables—even if you have the correct permissions. Views within all schemas will not be visible!

How can you fix this?
Disable this preview feature and restart Power BI! — see image below. Note that you can still access your existing views from Power Query. So, if you already have a working Power Query setup/connections with the Snowflake Server, you can simply duplicate and reuse it. The views are just not visible in the Power BI Desktop UI.

Thanks for the workaround. Besides not being able to see views, the new connector was ironically very slow to retrieve data.

Seriously guys, how do you not test the ability to retrieve views before pushing this out -- then causing us to search for a fix -- Freaking Amateurs.

Even worse, for some users who do not have local Admin rights on their machines, disabling the feature, then restarting PBI does not work. The feature is back on after restarting the app. We are trying to modify the userdata.zip file, specifically, the FeatureSwitches.xml file, where the setting is stored. I'm sure each machine 'code' is different but for us, we looked for the one type whose Value = "l0" And yes, deploying this without testing was clownish is that is a word.
