In the Query Editor, if you select a date or datetimezone type column and choose Add Column - Date - Day - Start of Day or End of Day, the result gets an incompatible data type datetime, instead of date or datetimezone.   To make things worse: the results are still visible in the Query Editor, but the data won't load to the data model. (See also issue: http://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/Table-AddColumn-and-Table-DuplicateColumn-may-display-invalid/idi-p/120314).   Example of created code (Start of Day for a date column): = Table.AddColumn(SampleData, "StartOfDay", each Date.StartOfDay([Date1]), type datetime)   The cause of the issue is with the data type datetime that is supplied as parameter columnType with Table.AddColumn, while the actual data is date or datetimezone. Likewise: for other "Start of..." and "End of..". options (Year, Month, Quarter, Week) on the Add Column menu, the generated code differs according to the datatype of the selected column. I am working to try and resolve an issue regarding external sharing with our Customers.  About two weeks ago my external customers have commented that they are no longer able to see the model in the data elements on PowerBI.com.   I have a hunch that the renew pro subscription prompt is not showing for them, and they are unable to load the model because of that. I have not heard if this was indeed an issue, or has been fixed.   I also opened a trouble ticket and worked with an engineer at MSFT (Anthany Neslon).  I was unable to get to him an invite email (even tho it shared successfully from PBI.COM).  Today, I got my own 'external' domain email, and was also unsuccessful in sharing with myself.  The invite indicates it sent just fine, but I never receive the email on my other domain.     Is there work being done on this feature?    Thanks, ... I'm not sure if this was requested or not yet as a new feature request. its hard to find all the topics, as there are many ways to explain this.   When creating a table of Pie chart where the values quick calc are percentage of total, and you want to filter on some of the legends and not all of them - all there to be a filter option to select either to base the percentage calculation on the total # of items in the set, or to base the percentage on the Items selected.   Currently, it only bases the percentage on the selection. So, if I filter and only select 1 legend item, it will display 100% since that is the only item selected. It would be nice that it displayed its true percentage of the total dataset.    Rob ... Hello BI team, I have encountered a major glitch that needs attention. When trying to input a multi-line SQL query under the "advanced options" section of ODBC (under "Get Data" >>> "Other" section), the open window will not allow the user to scroll back up in order to minimize the "advanced options" so that the "OK" button can be pressed and the ODBC query submitted for data processing and pulling. This virtually makes pulling ODBC data via SQL query currently unusable. If you could address this as soon as you get a chance that would be great...thanks! Have signed up, but then cannot get our NAV linked to PowerBI so I  can hand off even a basic demo - following the setup guide closely   When I try to add the NAV data source (with basic auth), this is what I get:   Failed to update data source credentials. Something really annoying that needs to be addressed - In Power BI Desktop when I go to publish a report I sometimes get asked to sign in before publishing... The only issue is that a dialoug box says "Working on it" thats in front of the sign in box... SO I CANT SIGN IN AND I HAVE TO USE THE TASK MANAGER TO KILL THE PROCESS AND THEN RESTART...   One would say to make sure your logged in - but it says my name in the top right corner leading me to believe that Im still logged in... But It must time out after 10-15 minutes because im not longer logged in. ... View more

Issue moved from the old issue site.   In Power Query - Edit queries you can select a column with data type date/time/timezone and then choose for Transform - Date - Age.   This will generate code like:   = Table.TransformColumns(SampleData,{{"DateTimeZone1", each DateTime.LocalNow() - _, type duration}})   which will generate errors due to different data types.   My suggestion would be either not allow Age calculation for date/time/timezone data, or have working code generated like:   = Table.TransformColumns(SampleData,{{"DateTimeZone1", each DateTimeZone.From(DateTime.LocalNow()) - _, type duration}}) ... Hello, I'm using Power BI Desktop to get data from Microsoft SQL Server. I have a table in our database (Microsoft SQL Server) containg two geometry columns. I have an additional step in my query steps in Power BI to exclude the geometry columns: = Table.RemoveColumns(Source,{"Geometry", "Geometry_IsValid"}) I open Power BI Desktop once a week to refresh the data. It's working fine on my computer (Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit). This week I opened the Power BI Desktop file on another machine and I got the following error: "Expression.Error: This native database query returned a type which isn't currently supported. Hi, I'm attaching a video of the problem: Drill works for some visuals and not others.    Drill is on a date-based field (works fine on text), column chart. The date-based field is a calculated column we built to let Year-Month be a coninuous type.
