Using PowerBI Desktop Version: 2.42.4611.482 64-bit (January, 2017). The same behaviour also occurs using the November 2016 release.
1. My underlying data table has two rows with exactly the same values for the months of July, August & September.
See the attached image called Data.
2. Using the table visualization with the "Amount" field not part of the table.
See Image ( Click on Value ) I then click on the "Amount" field to add it to the visualization. I do NOT drag the amount field into the Values area. The two July data rows are shown in the table as 1 row and the total is $20,000. Which is correct.
3. I start again and then instead of clicking the "Amount" field ... I drag it into the Values area.
See Image ( Drag Value ). Notice that the July data is only showing one row of $10,000. The underlying data consists of 2 rows totalling $20,000. In addition the presentation is now attempting to show each data row individually .. with the exception of the three months ( July/August/September ) which have two rows of underlying data with the same values.
Your's in confusion ! ... I'm assuming this is a bug ... if it's not, please explain why I'm getting this behaviour ( or it's purpose ).
