I’m currently testing a Snowflake connection inPower BI Desktop (May 2026 edition) using RSA key authentication, and the connection works successfully in Desktop.
However, after publishing the report/dataset to Power BI Service, the datasource fails with an Authentication Error.
At this point:
Power BI Desktop connects successfully to Snowflake using RSA key authentication
Power BI Service does not authenticate successfully using the same setup
The issue appears to be specific to the Service environment rather than the Desktop client
Has anyone encountered this behavior?
