Matrix Visual - Value Text Color Issue

With the Matrix visual.  Applying setting in the Format panel - layout and style presets > Style is set to "None", then within the Values box selecting two of the same colors within the "Text Color" and "Alternative Text Color" fields (so as to not have alternating row colors) both colours change to be grey regardless of whatever color is chosen in both text colour values.

Choosing white text, both turn grey,  selecting both to be blue text, both turn grey.  Selecting one to be red and one to be blue, then colours are displayed.

This appeared to be fixed within the August 2024 release, but has since reverted back.

Hi  @jius 

What version of PBI Desktop are you using?I tested with 2.132.1053.0 64-bit (August 2024) and when I set two different colors, the text is displayed according to the set color. When I choose two same colors, the text in row is displayed in gray. Is the result of my test the same problem as what you are feeding back? You mentioned This appeared to be fixed within the August 2024 release, can you elaborate on the exact version?

Tested on Version: 2.134.7447.1 64-bit (October 2024).  This has been existing for a long time,  I thought that it seemed fixed from Aug build (unknown version), but it could have been other settings at play, so cannot be for certain and I'm unable to rollback to verify.


But issue as explained above and reproduced by yourself is the same, and has been around for a long time.

The only 'work around' is to add two different colours with an extreme minor change in HEX to give appearance of being same colour for end users, else it defaults to grey and not chose color value.

Looks like MS Store jumped the gun a little and has reverted back to previous build [Version: 2.132.1053.0 64-bit (August 2024)] as an update was pushed out via store yesterday (probs around 16h00 UTC).  This build still has the reported issue and can be used to test/verify issue with grey text.

Coincidently the previous build, as mentioned above and oddly (Oct 24) also included dark theme which also had tickets raised. But the reverted build pushed via the Store has no dark theme. Just by way to help anyone reading this ticket if opening a report that was created/amended/saved using the very short lived build you will get an error message when opening in the reverted build regarding a feature or component issue - not sure of exact wording. It does not appear to have caused any noticiable issues on reports. I can only see the legacy/light/dark mode option list has disappeared in settings.

Hi @jius 

The issue you mention is something other customers are feeding back on as well. the MS Store uploaded the wrong version, and some of the October releases aren't currently available. The current latest version is still 2.132.1053.0 64-bit (August 2024). So you need to uninstall the previous PBI Desktop, download the August installer in Download Center and reinstall it.

As for the issue you mentioned, I'll verify it again and get back with PG, if I hear anything I'll come back with an update, thanks for your cooperation!
