Git Integration Issues

I am having some issues getting the git integration to cooperate withmy workspace(s). I am able to branch off of my ado repo, pull it down in vs code, make changes to the .bim file in tabular editor, save, and pull the changes into main from the branch I created without issue. 

The problem arises when I want to then push the changes from ADO to the PBI workspace. I get errors like "Failed to initialize workspace". Other times it will show that the Git repo and the workspace are out of sync and when I go to do update and commit changes the workspace overwrites the git repo not the other way around.

I have tried disconnecting from the repo and reconnecting choosing the overwrite option but it still gives errors

Can you describe in detail the steps to push changes from ADO to the PBI workspace?

Hello @Anonymous, thanks for responding. 

 

There are a few different ways you can push changes from an ADO Repo. The ways I have tried are:

 

1) After completing my changes I merge my branch back into main. The PBI workspace then detects there is changes and prompts me to update via source control button. Upon doing so I recieve this error

2) disconnecting the workspace from the git repo via workspace settings and reconnecting. Upon reconnecting I am prompted to select if I want the workspace to overwrite the repo or have the repo overwrite the workspace. Since my changes are in ADO I want it to overwrite the workspace. This gives me errors around the workspace not being able to initialize.

3) any attpts to create my own branch via PBI interface cause errors and the only way to switch back to main is to disconnect and reconnect.

 

 

Hope this helps! I even tried deleting everything from the workspace and the.n connecting to load everything fresh and it still wont include the new changes to the dataset.

Hi Everyone, I'm having exactly the same issue, is there a solution? Also disconnect and reconnect the workspace does not solve the issue
