Error when configuring Incremental Refresh for Dataflow

I am getting the error below when I try to enable incremental refresh on a Dataflow. The dialogue allows me to configure and submit the incremental refresh, but about a minute after submission the following error is returned in a pop-up window:

Could not perform this operation due to an internal error
Please try again later or contact support. If you contact support, please provide these details.
