Direct Query not working with SQL Server 2016 Always On Capabilities

Upgraded our SQL Server database 2012 to 2016 which came with always on capabilities. In the process, our Power BI reports utilizing direct query from the database started breaking giving us 'availability group errors'.

To mitigate this,I enabled SQL Failvoer support in my edit queries button and configured the connection string with 'Application Intent Read Only'. Despite this, I am unable to get any direct queries to work with the new SQL Server.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issues and has any suggestions on how to resolve this??

Thanks.

Hi @snk,

Are you able to connect to the same SQL Server database in SSMS remotely successful?

Would you please share detail error message when you connect to the SQL in Power BI desktop?

Best Regards,

I am able to connect to SQL Server remotely and run import queries on Power BI. Just not direct queries. The database connection string has been configured for application intent read only and I still continue to get this alert.
