I am having the same issue...it was working this am (sunday morning) but now I cannot open my powerbi reports.

Hi all, 

 

Does the issue happen to one specific report or all reports? 

Please run the latest Power BI desktop version 2.79.5768.721 and open reports again to see if the same issue occurs.

I have the new March version of the application - I believe this issue has started since attempting to open a file after the update. Without knowing for sure, it seems as though any files I had open when the update occurred will now no longer open - but any older files that I have edited lately will open. I have also tried to restore from previous versions of the file that won't open and this does not work, same error.

I'm having the same issue. I use Power BI Desktop from Microsoft Store, which I can install without admin persmissions. I can not install Power BI Desktop from Microsoft website, as i don't have admin permissions for my work computer.

 

I built a lot of reports in the fall of 2019 to February 2020. As soon as March 2020 version 2.79.5768.721 64-bit was pushed to my machine, I can't open any of my reports.

The reports are all, they were working right before the udpate. I can also open the reports from my personal computer (which runs the exact same version of Power BI Desktop), but i need to be able to open them from my work machine.

 

I can't install the older version of Power BI, as I don't have admin permissions. 

 

I've tried the following, nothing helped:

Restarting machine, restarting power bi

Reinstalling power bi

Updating policy gpupdate /force

Moving PBIX files from network drive to local drive


It's super frustrating and disruptive for the work of our organization. What do we do? Are there any fixes?

@v-qiuyu-msft  - I've had this same issue.  This is only happening on one PBIX file, one that was worked on by someone else.

 

I've checked that I have the most up to date Power BI desktop version from the microsoft store.  Earlier versions of that PBIX file work fine, and all others appear to work fine, apart from one

 

again is the "ExecuteXmla failed with result"
