Hi leyre, This idea has been circulating for quite some time across multiple Idea entries (I’ve seen examples from 2021, and even references back to 2019), which highlights a consistent and ongoing need in the community. From what I can tell you have the version with the most votes It would be really valuable to have a way to consolidate or align these separate Idea submissions into a single, supported approach. At the moment, the same underlying requirement is fragmented across multiple entries, which makes it harder to track demand and progress. While there are workarounds—such as using Apps or relying on obfuscation techniques—these are not always practical in real-world scenarios. More importantly, obfuscation is not a true security solution, as underlying data pages can still be accessed by users who know how. obfuscation - is not security, and pages can still be accessed, if you know how. Hi v-achippa , This appears to be a bit of an issue with comms/Direct Lake models - it's unclear if this type of edit is doable via live edit in the service or within the desktop app only I'm waiting for IT to obtain a better update policy, a member of the senior team was able to confirm the option is present within Desktop app only (no sign of setting in the service/tennat) Regards, Mathew2.6KViews0likes2CommentsDirect Lake Model - Calculated Column/Tables
Hi all, The latest April ’26 update highlighted a major item for anyone working with Direct Lake models — the ability to create calculated columns and calculated tables that reference Direct Lake fields/tables. We’ve tested this on our side and noticed that the feature appears to be in a phased rollout. However, there was no mention of this in the associated YouTube update. Does anyone have insight into the expected timeline for full rollout, or confirmation on whether this is still gradually deploying? Thanks. Hi all, Quick update on the Microsoft Fabric support ticket. (I strongly suggest anyone else that has the issue, to please also raise a support ticket, this will result in faster movement I'm sure) Initially, support asked us to uninstall and reinstall the Desktop app, which wasn’t feasible because each installation requires involvement from our IT support provider. I directed them to this forum thread, and the next day they arranged a Teams call. Fortunately, one of our team members who works more on the SQL side still had the February 26th version installed. During the call we were able to reproduce the issue live and provide browser logs. It turns out my original description — that we were unable to edit a DirectLake model in Desktop — had been misunderstood. Support has now successfully replicated the bug on their side as well. Their latest update is: “We will check internally and keep you posted once we have any update from our team.” I’ll share more as soon as we hear back. Thank you I will add this to link to the ticket email Interesting that you've stated "but we’re unable to work on other components that require a Pro license." Can you give more details - as when I've installed the older version it notes that I have a pro licence and all functions are working If you are making use of User Defined Functions (UDFs) - this might need re-selecting in the options and settings -> options -> preview feature to enable it again (we had this issue)4.8KViews1like0CommentsRe: Power BI - Direct Lake model - choosing edit in desktop - not working

Hi Mauro89 confirmed - its the same account, I've been able to edit direct lake models with no issue for months till today - We tested this eith another user, one on an older version of Power BI desktop no issues at all, and another with the version noted above. It worked for the older version Version: 2.150.2455.0 64-bit (January 2026) but not for Version: 2.151.1052.0 64-bit (February 2026) IT support have removed the MS store version and installed Version: 2.150.2455.0 64-bit (January 2026) - which now allows me to edit the Direct Lake model in Desktop with no issues4.9KViews4likes2Comments
