Idea: Allow syncing of "Object Type Code Name fields" from Microsoft Dataverse Reason: Currently, when making a Fabric Lakehouse link from Dataverse, for choice fields, only internal values (Object Type Code) get pulled from Dataverse (e.g. "recurringapppointmentmaster" instead of the more eligible "Recurring Appointment"). While in Dataverse the column Object Type Name doesn't get pulled to Fabric Lakehouse Benefit: By allowing this extra field to by synced to Lakehouse also, it takes away the need for manual intervention, in such cases when the more stylized and eligible Object Type Code Name is preferred over the internal values, like when used Reports, Analytics and Presentation. Dear community, Do you also face the challenge that you upload csv-files and need to monitor manually if the file was modified? Then you manually start the process to have the current data available in your tables/data models/reports?   In the documentation it is explained that a action can be triggered by "if the the file is created or replaced"; this only happens when the file is really uploaded manually (or by a notebook) in the browser in onelake in fabric. If it is only changed in the onelake file explorer for windows preview feature plus saved there, ONLY the activation details arrive but NO action is triggered.   It would be nice to have a possibility to trigger an action when the data within the file is modified. ... I have a workspace in my environment called "DataSources" with a number of lakehouses in it that use shortcuts to provide linkage (and Workspace Identity based access) to ADLS locations.  This works really well, and makes it very simple for my analysts to find the data they need. I have some upstream data providers that are now also exposing data via Lakehouses themselves, and it would be nice to be able to create a "Lakehouse Shortcut" inside the DataSources workspace that just redirects to the Lakehouse in their environment (instead of building my own lakehouse and creating shortcuts to their lakehouse tables).  This would make it so that I can provide a single location for my analysts to go to access/consume "blessed" datasets. ... Currently, we have the following account types: Organizational Account Account Key Shared Access Signature (SAS) Service Principal However, I need to use Key Vault for secrets. I don’t want to expose secrets here, and with every release, I have to change them manually. To access data stored in ADLS Gen2, we use "External Location" (which is created using Unity Catalog). To achieve this, we make use of Access Connector (which is an Azure Resource). Can we make it possible to create "External Location" using One Lake paths (instead of ADLS Gen 2 only). We can add Access Connectors in the AD groups ( Entra ID) and can define the role of a contributor to that group. This way, that Access Connector would have the access to the One Lake data. And, Databricks is inclined towards Unity Catalog, so it makes sense to follow the standard approach to access the data (using Access Connectors instead of Service Principals). I have a both a Windows 11 Laptop and MacBook Pro. With all the great browser features in Fabric there is less of a need to have Power BI Desktop on MacOS. But could we get a OneLake File Explorer for Mac (OneLake Finder). Lots of Data Engineers and Data Scientists use MacOS. I could upload files to the lakehouse via the browser, but OneLake File Explorer for Mac would help me get files into the Fabric workspace so I could use Notebooks in the Data Engineering and Data Science parts of Fabric. If I can demo this feature on my Mac to other MacOS users without needing to switch to my Lenovo, Fabric could be more compelling to all Data Engineers and Data Scientists. ... View more

Introduction of OneLake folders for Fabric workspace Situation: We want to store structured and unstructured raw files in OneLake. A data pipeline will pick up those files and process them (e.g. create lakehouse tables from the file content). The only option that Fabric offers to store files are lakehouses. For a simple file storage a lakehouse brings a lot of overhead and it is not intuitive to go to a lakehouse to look for files. Suggestion: Fabric should provide the possibility to store files in workspace folders. As default soft delete is 7 days but client is looking for enable disable so they have flexibility to control storage size and design solution accordingly as soft delete is not required for non-prod environments. Currently, Microsoft Fabric supports only long-term credentials for S3 shortcuts. However, I would like to suggest the addition of support for temporary credentials obtained through boto3. Specifically, it would be extremely beneficial if the connection could use a sessionToken along with the access_key and secret_key.   The ability to use temporary credentials would provide enhanced security and flexibility, particularly for users who need to manage their AWS resources in a dynamic environment. This feature would not only benefit me but also a wide range of users who rely on Microsoft Fabric for managing their cloud resources.   I understand that implementing new features involves careful consideration and significant resources. Hi All, Can we have shortcut for Amazon Redshift in Fabric Lakehouse or datwarehouse workload as well similar to S3 files?  That way we can use it as Virtual tables and make available for end users for querying as well as Power BI reports under unified platform.  I think this is very good use case for data virtualization for solutions using AWS for connecting to various sources and loading in AWS but want to leverage Power BI for end reporting.
