Consider a scenario where a Storage Account is associated with a Log Analytics Workspace, enabling the logging of every operation. This feature proves invaluable in the event of a security breach, as it allows for a detailed investigation into the incident. It’s an essential security measure. I have a pipeline that dumps data into a Lakehouse table (via a Copy Data task, with Overwrite option). After the pipeline runs, the Lakehouse view of the table gets updated fairly quickly. But the SQL Analytic endpoint view as accessed via SSMS still shows the OLD schema and data of the table. (Note that the old schema is 3 columns, and the new schema is 12 columns.) I have tried disconnecting the Object Explorer in SSMS and re-connecting but after 20 minutes it still shows a table of 3 columns. A simple "SELECDT * FROM ..." of that table yields a dataset of the correct 12 columns, but Object Explorer is stuck. Is this a caching bug in SSMS? ... View more

Introduction of OneLake folders for Fabric workspace Situation: We want to store structured and unstructured raw files in OneLake. A data pipeline will pick up those files and process them (e.g. create lakehouse tables from the file content). The only option that Fabric offers to store files are lakehouses. For a simple file storage a lakehouse brings a lot of overhead and it is not intuitive to go to a lakehouse to look for files. Suggestion: Fabric should provide the possibility to store files in workspace folders. Currently, we have the following account types: Organizational Account Account Key Shared Access Signature (SAS) Service Principal However, I need to use Key Vault for secrets. I don’t want to expose secrets here, and with every release, I have to change them manually. Hi Team, There are couple of suggestions based on last engagement. As default soft delete is 7 days but client is looking for enable disable so they have flexibility to control storage size and design solution accordingly as soft delete is not required for non-prod environments. Hi All, Can we have shortcut for Amazon Redshift in Fabric Lakehouse or datwarehouse workload as well similar to S3 files?  That way we can use it as Virtual tables and make available for end users for querying as well as Power BI reports under unified platform.  I think this is very good use case for data virtualization for solutions using AWS for connecting to various sources and loading in AWS but want to leverage Power BI for end reporting. To access data stored in ADLS Gen2, we use "External Location" (which is created using Unity Catalog). To achieve this, we make use of Access Connector (which is an Azure Resource). Can we make it possible to create "External Location" using One Lake paths (instead of ADLS Gen 2 only). We can add Access Connectors in the AD groups ( Entra ID) and can define the role of a contributor to that group. This way, that Access Connector would have the access to the One Lake data. And, Databricks is inclined towards Unity Catalog, so it makes sense to follow the standard approach to access the data (using Access Connectors instead of Service Principals). Premise Today, OneLake gives the ability to restore deleted files in a 7-day period. However, any overwrites to unmanaged locations (e.g., e.g. someone overwriting a CSV sitting in Files/ in a Lakehouse with corrupted data) will result in a potential data loss. User Story As at least an admin/power user, I want to be able to restore previous versions of files, so that I can avoid such data loss without a need for frequent snapshotting of data outside OneLake. I have a both a Windows 11 Laptop and MacBook Pro. With all the great browser features in Fabric there is less of a need to have Power BI Desktop on MacOS. But could we get a OneLake File Explorer for Mac (OneLake Finder). Lots of Data Engineers and Data Scientists use MacOS. I could upload files to the lakehouse via the browser, but OneLake File Explorer for Mac would help me get files into the Fabric workspace so I could use Notebooks in the Data Engineering and Data Science parts of Fabric. If I can demo this feature on my Mac to other MacOS users without needing to switch to my Lenovo, Fabric could be more compelling to all Data Engineers and Data Scientists. ... View more
