When starting up desktop I get a "grey screen of death"

Any report I try and open on my machine just gives me a grey screen and I can't interact with it at all. A coworker is able to see the reports but I'm not. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have fully updated my machine. Still I don't see any changes.    These are some errror messages that eventually comes up after several minutes of the grey screen.      ... View more

Where do you get the latest version of the Power BI desktop? Windows Store or the web?

If it’s from the Windows Store, I suggest you to update to the latest version of the Power BI desktop and check if this problem can disappear.

Using Field Parameters in Decomposition Tree

I can expand one additional level to the decomposition tree after my Field Parameter Field, but if I try expanding any more afterwards than I get "An error occured while rendering the report". Seems like could not reproduce it in my side as far as my test. Perhaps you can consider sharing more details about this issue like whether you have created a measure to use it as filed parameter, if so, how did you create it and what the additional field represent in the visual etc.

 

A sample table strcture or some scrrenshots about this issue which could reproduce it would help better.

Since yesterday, we experience a caching problem with some of our customers. The first opened report works without any issues while the next reports give the underneath error.   The data set is created in SSAS cubes and we use the on premise data gateway to connect.   Anyone else experiencing this? What-if parameters do not work due to 1002 sampling limit on slicer visual (CRI 115536429)

What-if parameters do not work if there is more than 1002 values in the generated parameter table due to the SAMPLE call of the Slicer visual. This happens in the real world extremely frequently.    I've seen this marked as by-design which is interesting   We are trying to present this feature to customers, and they are seeing an entered value of say 7.09 change when they exit the field to 7.12   If we limit the parameter table to 1002 values, it's fine of course... but often its a percentage adjustment to 1 decimal place between -100 and 100 that we are working with in what-if scenarios   Please fix!! ... Hi, Team   Power BI Service version: 13.0.19679.83 Microsoft Teams Desktop app version: 1.5.00.33362 (64-bit)   I tried to do Chat in Teams menu, but I couldn’t get the report on the Teams app. 1. Please check if you have met the limitations:

  • The Chat in Teams button might not work if your browser uses strict privacy settings. 
  • Chat in Teams doesn't include a link preview.
  • Link previews and Chat in Teams don't give users permissions to view the item. Permissions must be managed separately.
  • The Chat in Teams button isn't available in visual context menus when a report author sets More options to Off for the visual.
  • For other issues, see the Known issues and limitations section of the "Collaborate in Microsoft Teams" article.

Report canvas backgrounds changed when publishing report to service

For some reason some of my reports (published about 1,5-2 weeks ago) has suddenly a change in background color on the report canvas from the background color I have set in the PBIX to a dark grey + the background surrounding the report canvas has also gotten this dark grey color. Recently several users (report consumers) have been experiencing app(s) stuck on "Building your app ...". Some details below.   Browser: Chrome (public and incognito) Workspace Type: New Experience User Type: admins, members, contributers, consumers (e.g., all types) App Age: new and existing Frequency: sporadic How: selecting App from App landing page and Home screen   So far the only solution/workaround we have is disable "New Look On". Power BI desktop calls the sqldmper.exe then crashes.

Lately while I was maintaining the published reports from the Power BI desktop; noticed that after save, when I clicked on the Publish button, it calls the sqldmper.exe (the command window) and crashes; sometimes hanged and had to kill the task. Then I noticed PBD keeps logging me out during publish, calls that sqldmper.exe and after crash, have to relogin and publish till now. Sorting on breakdown attribue of waterfall chart not working

I am using the new breakdown option on waterfall charts. Unfortunately sorting the breakdown dimension does not work. It is possible to select it for sorting but the breakdown elements willl still  ordered by size of the breakdown elements (in decreasing order).   Any idea?   Best regards Julian ... View more

Paginated reports parameters : Blank() and empty values

Hello,   We are facing an issue in Paginated Reports v15.7.1740.0001 where an empty string value (not NULL, just empty) cannot be filtered on. The datasource is an AAS model we have migrated from OnPrem SSAS tabular model and OnPrem SSRS (where it works just fine).   In the main DataSet and parameter DataSet we have these results :           But when we execute and test the report, empty value is just filtered and we can't get the line back.    On OnPrem Report there's no problem :      Has anyone faced this issue yet? Action on Card and KPI

Can we get an Action on Card and KPI visuals?  Pretty standard to want to hit a KPI and move to detail for selected metric.  In fact, that's the whole idea behind the dashboards (which are essentially worthless becasue you can't use slicers).   I know you can float a transparent button over them, but that has drawabacks:   1.  It blocks the tooltip ability for the card, which is quite nice.  Hover and get at trend, etc.  Kills me to lose that 2.  Needless overhead and makes report modification really painful, having to go and move both objects.  (Selection Pane helps, but still)   ... "Cannot load model" error in Service

About a handful of my users (including myself) are suddenly unable to open up any reports in service, regardless of the dataset.  It will try to load for about two minutes before saying: "Couldn't load the model schema associated with this report. Make sure you have a connection to the server, and try again." This is happening in all reports in all datasets in all workspaces and seems to be a impacting a random group of users.  All of our browsers support TSL 1.2 protocol.  Our tenant is in North Central US.       ... Marketplace visuals removed after undoing a deletion of a slicer

This is a replicable bug. You can start with a blank report, and you don't even need to load any data.   1. Load one or more visuals from the marketplace 2. Add a slicer to the canvas 3. Delete the slicer from the canvas 4. Hello, we have been having an issue with Paginated Reports on PBI over the last few days, after some testing i can confirm the behavior is as follows:   If a paginated reports has a parameter that's nullable, the navigation bar at the top will freeze and make it impossible to change pages.   When the parameter has a value, it is possible to navigate between pages.
