ambiguity on which installer to use for on-premises data gateway installer

June 12 I updated our on premises data gateway. I downloaded installer fileversion 14.16.6717.2.

Today its configurator window displays: there is a newer version. After downloading it gives me a totelay different installer with version 14.16.6584.1. Names of files are also different. gatewayinstall.exe (original filename egw-prod.exe) versus PowerBIgatewayInstaller.exe (originalname PowerBIGatewayInstaller.exe). Also file size differ a lot.

Which one should be the right installer? And what are the differences?

Different downloads are retrieved after following the links from A) the gatewayconfiguration window and b) from the powerbi.com gateway menulink. I supprises me that these links don't direct to the same installer files.

Based on my test, download on-premises data gateway from these two links, then install it, the gateway version is 14.16.6724.2. 

Not sure what you mean about "Today its configurator window displays: there is a newer version. After downloading it gives me a totelay different installer with version 14.16.6584.1." I would suggest you uninstall the on-premise data gateway if it's version 14.16.6584.1 then reinstall it with installer file download from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53127. 

Regarding the difference about these two kind of installer files, I have sent a email to consult this issue internally. Will update here once I get any information.

Hi @detlev,

I got information that the small file is a setup bootstrap that load the latest version of the bigger file.
The version of the bootstrap does not change much as it have no news feature added every month.
