Wallpaper looks different in Power BI desktop versus published in service

Hi!
I just tried to apply the new wallpaper feature - and added a picture to my wallpaper which was previously in the background to allow more space on the canvas. However, when published in the service the headline doesn't show anymore

It doesn't make any difference if I change the page size from default 16:9 to custom 1920:1080 - the "headline" of my picture in the wallpaper is still cut in the online view.

Please help!

Carina

Hi @Carina1178,

I have reported this issue internally: CRI 79696936. Will update here once I get any information.

Hi @Carina1178,

I got below information:

This is as-designed; setting the background image for the canvas has also always acted like similarly.

When the "Image Fit" option is set to "Fit", the image will center vertically, and rescale both dimensions to fit the image to the width of the available canvas.  "Fill" acts similarly, but destructively scales width and height separately to fill the available space (and could lead to poor scaling artifacts if the aspect ratio of the canvas doesn't match the image).

If the author wants to ensure that the background always matches the canvas, they should use the "Normal" fit option, which will cause the background image to start at the top-left corner and never re-scale.

Best Regards,
Qiuyun Yu
