Unable To Refresh Data From Access Database Using Power BI Desktop

Hi ,

I have a problem trying to refresh the data in Power BI Desktop which comes from a Access database. I am able to load the data, however I am unable to refresh the data manually. When ever I try refreshing I get an error window which says " DataFormat.Error: Unrecognized database format 'filename.accdb " or " DataFormat.Error: The database has been placed in a state by user 'Admin' on machine 'Machine number' that prevents it from being opened or locked. " and the refresh doesnt take place.

Can anybody help me with this and give me a solution as all my other work and stakeholders are completely dependent on this data refresh over the dashboard we built. I have personally gone through all the forums and could'nt find any reliable solution for the problem I have.

This happens to me when I'm designing anything in the access database. Also I can not use access as a datasource for PowerBI unless the access database is closed.

Someone posted a link prior to this to change the Client Settings -> Advanced ->Default open mode ->Shared.

My settings were already this way so that eliminated that as a possiblity.
