Text Box Scroll Bars

Maybe it's just me...and I may possibly have imagined that this functionality previously existed...but were scroll bars previously part of a text box? So that if you had a lot of text...in a box...you could scroll up and down to read it all?

It doesn't appear to be possible anymore and I'm a little concerned that I'm "remembering" things that may not have even been there in the first place.

You should be able to see the scroll bars in report edit view in PBI Service, but cannot see the scroll bars when in report reading view.

I found an existing issue reported internally by others (CRI 26691560). According to the reply from PBI team, this is currently by design. But they are planning on changing the design. This behavior may be changed in the future.

@v-haibl-msft Hi Smiley Happy yes, thanks for replying. It's there in the report edit view but disappears in the report reading view.

Hmmmm, I don't understand how this could be "by design". I mean, if I've put text in the box for the end user to read that exceeds the space available (because of limited screen real estate) and a scroll bar exists in the design view, I'd like them to have the ability to scroll and would have expected that to be the case in the report reading view.

Having said that though, this principle should probably be applied to other aspects of Power BI. Like if I created a bar graph visual in the edit view, surely this should be automatically changed to a pie or line chart visual in the report reading view. All by design of course, yes? Smiley Wink (j/k)

I personally agree with you this function should not work like this. Smiley Mad

Since Power BI team are planning on changing the design, we can look forward to the changing.
