My colleagues and I are working with a DirectQuery towards a common datamodel built in PBI and hosted in PBI Service. All of us repeatedly receive the foloowing error:

OLE DB or ODBC error: The '[some GUID]' session ID cannot be found. Either the session does not exist or it has already expired.

and there is a new version power bi desktop, try it see if it works well. 2.91.701.0 64-bit (March 2021)

We are having this issue as well.   It really needs to be fixed or we need guidance from MS as to what is causing it.    In our case, we are creating composite models.   And then connecting to those via a "live connection" to build report both in the cloud, and desktop.   

But impossible to even get started...our reports keep getting these errors.

Has this been solved? I am having the same issue. Our models on excel can't get updated and it is causing a horrible downtime.
