Refresh Data Window is Blank/Black

Just noticed this issue over the last couple of days -

In Power BI Desktop, after clicking the icon to refresh data, the pop-up window that typically displays the progress of each query's refresh is black/blank:

I am having this issue as well since the last update. It doesn't seem to happen every time I refresh things but is really annoying when it happens as I can't see if it is still refreshing or has refreshed with errors.

I have the same problem. This is temporarily resolved (in my case) when I end the Power BI "GPU Process" in the task manager.

Thanks earthdragon31, killing it and re-refreshing worked for me as well. It is annoying and it is a rather new thing. Happens here at work (Version: 2.140.1577.0 64-bit (February 2025)), and on my personal computer at home. It doesn't happen every time, but often enough to be annoying because you can't see what is happening.

I have also been experiencing this bug as of last month. I had thought that it was only a problem with a newer copies of dashboards I had created but after applying changes on a previous file I'm encountering the same issue. Version: 2.140.1205.0 64-bit (February 2025)

I've been having the same issue with the grayed out window when refreshing the desktop.

I have been having the same issue for a couple of weeks.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION 1: I had the same issue. The data load/refresh pop-up was blank/greyed out. Turns out, it is zoomed in! Hover the mouse cursor over it and CTRL + wheel scroll down OR on a mouse pad - Pinch zoom out. It worked for me.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION 2: The above solution worked once, then it didn't the next time. Another way I got it working was by changing the Display Resolution on your windows to a lower setting. Choose a lower setting, apply it. Then check if the blank/grey pop up issue is resolved. Then you can set your screen resolution back to the original setting.

Expirienced the same thing today. In my case it must have shown an error undeneath its blank surface, because once I clicked on random spots I got back to the "view error" view in Power Query.

@NasiraliKarwar thanks - your solution about changing the screen resolution seemed to work for me. hopefully a proper fix will be out soon as changing the resolution each time it happens is far from ideal

Yep, changing the screen resolution brought back the text. It makes no sense tho. I've had this issue since Friday, and it seems to happen every time I try to refresh something.
