Refresh Data Window is Blank/Black

Just noticed this issue over the last couple of days -

In Power BI Desktop, after clicking the icon to refresh data, the pop-up window that typically displays the progress of each query's refresh is black/blank:

Status: Investigating

Hi @garynorcrossmmc ,

I tried to reproduce your issue but was unsuccessful, can you provide more information for us to investigate further?
What data source are you using? What is the connection mode? Are you using the latest version of Power BI Desktop (please note that it is the official download link version and not the MS app store version).

I am experiencing the same issue, however my screen is blank and grey (likely due to my PBI appearance settings). I am on Version: 2.139.2054.0 64-bit (January 2025) desktop version. Any determined cause?

I am seeing the same thing. When refreshing the data, it just shows an empty gray box so I have no idea where it it at in the refresh process.

Same issue here. Version: 2.140.1078.0 64-bit (February 2025) I've also had some strange display issues with the measure editor and changes being reverted on save that began yesterday. According to my machine, Power BI was updated yesterday.

Same, with grey screen. In my case I don't know if this has anything to do with it but the pbix lives in a 'OneDrive' location. By that I mean when I originally saved this pbix I chose the 'OneDrive' option and not the 'Browse this device' option. I have then opened the file subsequently by starting Power BI and choosing this file from the 'Recent' list in the Power BI Desktop home screen. Seems to happen when I make changes to the semantic model in power query and then click on the 'Close & Apply' button. When I open that same pbix from my locally cached C:\users\ path to the Onedrive location, I can make those same changes and apply them and the Load screen seems to always display correctly. PBI desktop installed from Microsoft Store. Currently dated 25th Feb 2025, v.2.140.1078.0. Windows 11 Ent. v.10.0.22631 Build 22631

I've been having the same issue with the grayed out window when refreshing the desktop.

Same issue here in the desktop app. Blank refresh dialog window and will not allow canceling.{1DE958D3-2906-4D96-9E79-C7A0FC212BB2}.png

Same problem, with the same visual as earthdragon31. I'm not able to do anything: close, save or even cancel the refresh. If I try to drag/drop inside I'm able to "move" see some information showing there might have been an error during the refresh?

The only option from there is to force-close Power BI and hope the recovered version will contain all the required parts...

Potential work-around: I closed the blank window by right-clicking on it in the taskbar. When I clicked on "Apply Changes" again, the Load window populated and showed status.

Another workaround: - wait for the refresh to finish (yes, I know, can't see anything) - press shift-tab -> 'Close' appears -> press enter
