PowerPoint Addin - New Filters Do Not Apply

Hi all

When I add a PowerBI to a PowerPoint, it works as expected for the first time, and refreshes without a problem.

But if I add a new visual to the same PowerBI, or apply a new filter and publish again, filters are not synced with the Powerpoint add-in and show the new/updated visuals without a filter. Possibly URL is generated with the filters the first time and then does not recognize any change afterwards about the filters. Any idea how to overcome this?

Scenario for better understanding:

I am presenting metrics for projects only A, C, D from the projects pool A, B, C, D, E.

I copy the URL and add it to the PowerBI tile in PowerPoint. Works as expected.

For the next month, I'd like to add our new project "F" to the same PowerBI page. I update the project filter visual to include "F".

On the desktop and web workspace, everything works and can change between projects A, C, D, F. On the PowerPoint side, F does not show up and keeps the original filters from when I copied the URL.

Hi  @Pleojera ,

Once the report or visual has loaded, it's live and you can select the data as desired. Any changes you make while editing the presentation will be saved. The next time you open the presentation, the report or visual will appear in the state you last left it in.

  • Refreshes the report page or visual with the latest data from the Power BI service. Note: Refresh doesn't trigger getting data from the data sources.

@Anonymous Thanks but you replied without reading probably. Data refreshes, but not the filters. If you make a change or add a filter in the PowerBi desktop, PowerBI web shows the updated filters applied but it does not reflect back to the PowerPoint. It only updates data there, not the filters. I think this is a bug.

Just checking for any updates.

@Anonymous

The problem persists. I tried copying URL from web client, using share option, and export option. Nothing worked. Again, the problem as follows.

* You add a visual to powerbi with filters. Publish it.

*Use URL from the web client to add report to powerpoint. works.

*Copy the existing visual in the powerBI desktop app and add a new filter. Publish again.

*Refresh the PowerPoint add-in. New visual is there in the Powerpoint but without the new visual filter being applied.

Same issue here. To reproduce:

Select a visual and place some filters/slicer on that visual. Publish the report to the Power BI service with those filters/slicers set as the default. From the Power BI service share the visual into Power BI addin. At this point the Power BI report and what is showin the in the PowerPoint slides is the same.

Now go to the report and change the filters/slicers and re-publish the report with those new filters/slicers. The default in the Power BI service should now show the new filtered visuals. However, when the addin refreshes in PowerPoint it still has the original filters applied. The only way to fix this is get the URL to the visual again and replace it in the PowerPoint addin. This is extremely cumbersom.
