Power Query Editor Repeatedly Losing Focus

Does anyone else have an issue where the Power Query Editor is repeatedly losing focus? It seems every few seconds the window loses focus. I could be right clicking on a query and the dialog will disappear. I could be typing M expressions in the Advanced Editor and it'll lose focus so I have to click on the editor again to resume typing.

Hi,

Unfortunately, I can’t reproduce the same issue as yours.

I suggest you to maximize the Power Query window seasoning to check if the error can disappear.

Yes it is driving me mad

Seems to happen when changes to queries generally or Preview data processing. Settles down after that but again as soon as you make a change it starts losing focus constantly again making it impossible to use

I have taken to keeping an instance of Notepad open, so that I can edit my expressions before pasting them into the Power Query editor.

This has been happening for me for a few weeks. I am working in Power Query Editor and the window keeps losing focus right after I click on things. A lot of time it is right clicking. I right click on something for the context menu and it disappears as soon as I mouse over it.  At least I'm not alone.  Hoping MS can reproduce and fix, but not getting my hopes up.

I also experience this quite annoying problem.

Has anyone found a fix yet?

I was wondering the other day if this is specific to Windows 11.  I've had all kinds of funky weirdness since I upgraded my work PC, like notifications popping up whenver they feel like it.

Has anybody experienced this who is not on Windows 11?

What's odd (At least for me), is that this only happens to me with the Power Query Editor in Power BI Desktop.

The PQ Editor in Excel doesn't do this. Probably because it locks you out of Excel until you close the Editor!?! 🤔

I'm on Windows 10 by the way.

I just found out that it seems to be the Power BI Main Window which is interefering here. When it is open an in the background, it seems to try to grab the focus from the Power BI Editor.

If I minimize it, the Power BI Editor does not loose the focus anymore.

@AnonymousPerson: Can you perhaps confirm this on your environment

@P_Allert , I just identified the same issue with my Power BI windows.  Whenever I move the cursor over an edge of the underlying main screen, it loses focus for a bit, and this can remove focus from text areas, drop things you're dragging, etc.

I also noticed that this will occur even if it is another instance of Power BI.

And the kicker -- This happens when that other instance is on another virtual desktop.  That one took me a while to discover!
