I have twice this week received the error "There's a problem with WebView2 Please report the issue to the Power Bi Community so we can help you resolve it". No idea what causes it. The only way I can progress is to end Power BI Desktop with task manager. The error is now reported, my job is done.

I receive this error when inputing new roles into Modeling/ Managing roles. I was alt-tabbing to a reference list during the process. I would save the dialogue but the error would most likely occur, and occur more times, after 18 inputs or mid alt-tab. Hope this helps.

Sorry, but we couldn’t provide any support outside this post. There are several existing ICM(292502976, 294087216) related to WebView2 crash, and product group is investigating on such issue. Will follow up them and sync here once there is update. In addition, please make sure you are using latest version of Power BI Desktop and try different versions of WebView2 at the same time. Thanks in advance!

Thanks Jaykrishna. This incident is related to the specific bug when the OS tries to close PowerBI as part of a shutdown/logoff. ICM 292502976 and 294087216 are mentioned on unrelated issues to do with opening Power BI rather than closing, and seem to be unrelated to this bug. While it's not possible to know what the internal MS backlog is, it would be reassuring to know there is an incident being worked on specifically for this: we wait on news in anticipation!
