Not possible to delete tables in datamodel: Failed to save modifications to the server (desktop)

Not possible to delete tables in a Power BI semantic model. Returns following:

Can not delete measures, tables or anything - keeps failing. When I try to delete from the query editor and apply the change it says:

Model queries

Failed to save modifications to the server. Error returned: 'Cannot find table 'Xxx'. Cannot find table 'Xxx. Cannot find table 'Xxx. An unexpected exception occurred. '. The table is available and can be refreshed.

The error message you're seeing, "Cannot find table 'Xxx'," suggests that the table might be missing or not properly referenced in the model. This can occur if there are issues with the schema or if the table was deleted or renamed outside Power BI, but you can review the applied steps for each query in Power BI desktop to see if there have been any changes to the schema. Look for steps that add, remove, or modify columns and tables and ensure the changes are correctly applied.

You may aslo make sure that all necessary permissions are granted for the data sources and that there are no schema changes that might be causing the issue.
