Map Shading

Shading a map based on field values seems to be no longer available in desktop version.  Existing shading from previous version of pbix is maintained, but there is now no way to edit those parameters after the latest update.  There should be an "fx" button to adjust values for shading the map in the Visuals pane, but it is not there.

Hi @ewolf ,

I've tested it and it displays properly.

Do you expect to show the following screen, you mentioned that you have updated the version, do you rebuild the map after updating the version to see if you can fix the issue?

I am able to set parameters for state shading in the online version of PBI, but not in the desktop version.  I keep having to publish my report and re-download it to make the shading parameter changes show in my desktop report.  This is the desktop version currently availalble through my organization and installed on my machine.  There is no "fx" button for conditional formatting in this desktop version.

Hi @ewolf ,

The filled map and the shaded map are two different visuals.
I used two different versions of Power BI Desktop for testing in February and March. They both show the same results, independent of the version.
In Shape map, you cannot fill the map color using conditional formatting.

Is there no way to conditionally format the fill on a shape map without having to convert is to a filled map, setting the parameters, then converting it back to a shape map... or publishing it online, setting the parameters, and redownloading a desktop version?  That seems a bit counter intuitive.  It was possible in older desktop versions.  Filled Map is only a world map and not useful here.  You cannot choose a specific geography or country map, and Filled Map includes locations (states) that are filtered out.  The Shape Map is the only visual of which I know that has an appropriate US map I can use for this purpose.  Why is it possible to set fill/color parameters for shape maps in the online version, but not the desktop version?
