Error when attempting to publish from desktop to service

I have a dashboard that I'm attempting to publish from desktop to the service. Everytime I get the following error. "An error occurred while attempting to publish "Name of Dashboard.pbix": the  remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found."

What is going on here? I only get this error with one of my dashboards and I've been unable to find any kind of work around.

Please help!

What is the file size of the particular file you are trying to upload. The max file allowed is 1GB.

Pbix file size is 4226Kb. Definitely under the 1 GB limit. Any thoughts on what else might be causing the issue?

Tried to do a file upload instead of a direct publish and got the following error. Still can't publish this darn dashboard.

The last refresh attempt failed because of an internal service error.

On your dashboard on powerbi.com, do you see any pinned tiles with errors? If not, can you try to refresh the dashboard and see if there are any errors?

The problem is I can't even get the dashboard from the desktop powerBI onto powerbi.com. There is no dashboard to refresh. Looking at it from the desktop powerBI there are also no errors in the tiles.

@jbays1

Is this issue only repro with one of your PBIX files but not others? What is the data source of this report? Have you tried to publish it in a different network environment?

Best Regards,

Herbert

Yes, this issue only occurs with one of my pbix files. However, it has the same data source as the other files. The data source is excel files. Can you explain publishing in a different network environment? I'm not sure what you mean.

Thanks for your help,

Hi Jaclyn,

From the logs that I can find, it seems that your pbix contain some resources (e.g. custom visuals, images) that don't have a file extension (e.g. the name of the resource is duck instead of duck.png). Please let me know if this is not the case. If so, would you mind sharing the pbix with me?

Thanks.

Tuan.
