Error adding external user with Direct Access

Hello, 

 

We are trying to add a new user to our Power BI web dashboard. We already have c. 15 users (some internal, some external) who have had no issues, but we're now adding this new external user and they're not able to log in. 

 

We also have one other external user who has the same domain address as this new user. 

 

The error message they get when they log in is below (using the link that is sent when they're added using the Direct Access tab). We have also tried just clicking share on the Power BI dashboard and sharing a link this way - we get the same error. 

 

What else can we try

Hi , @MG_PBI_admin 

Do you have other dashboards that add users normally ? Maybe you can check if your dashboard is normal .

Thank you for your response. 

 

I have tried creating a new Power BI dashboard, and also put it in a new workspace, and the user isn't able to access this new dashboard either. They get the same error. 

 

I tried sharing this new dashboard with a link and with giving them direct access. Neither worked. Anything else we could try?

Hi @MG_PBI_admin 

If you want to share the report to users , there are 2 points to note : License and Account .

License : If your report or dashboard is in shared capacity , the users who want to access the report or dashboard need Pro or PPU license . If your report or dashboard in Premium capacity, there is no requirement for the user's license .

Account : You can share report to the users in your organization or guest users , you cannot share report or dashboards directly to external users . So if your collaborators are external users , you need invite them to be guest users , then share report or dashboards to them .
