Embedded Power BI Reports Using Direct Lake Semantic Models Display Stale Data When Switching Betwee

Environment

  • Report Type: Power BI Embedded Reports
  • Semantic Model: Direct Lake
  • Deployment: Reports embedded in custom web application
  • Platform: Power BI Service (OMP 360 Analytics)

Issue Description

When navigating from one embedded report to another within our web application, the destination report displays outdated data instead of the most recent refresh. The data shown corresponds to the previous day's refresh rather than the current day's completed pipeline refresh.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Data pipeline completes refresh at 07:00 hrs (e.g., 01/09/2026)
  2. Open Report A in the embedded web application → Report A correctly displays Last Refresh: 01/09/2026
  3. Navigate/switch to Report B within the same session
  4. Report B incorrectly displays Last Refresh: 01/08/2026 (previous day's data)

Expected Behavior

Both reports should reflect the latest data refresh timestamp (01/09/2026) when the underlying Direct Lake semantic model has been updated.

Actual Behavior

The second report opened continues to display cached/stale data from the previous day's refresh (01/08/2026).

Evidence

Report Last Refresh Displayed Expected
Report 1 (opened first)01/09/2026 ✓01/09/2026
Report 2 (switched to)01/08/2026 ✗01/09/2026

Additional Context

  • This appears to be a caching issue specific to embedded report navigation
  • The issue does not occur when reports are opened independently in new sessions
  • We are using Direct Lake mode, which should reflect real-time data from OneLake
