DirectQuery Dataflows IDbConnection error

I have a dataflow published in the Power BI Service with the Enhanced Compute Engine turned on. When I add the dataflow to Power BI Desktop as an import, it works as expected. If I choose DirectQuery instead and click load, I get this:

It is an issue in the Oct 2020 release for Power BI Report Server (on premises) as well. Modifying the "changed by" date with every click and ending with a "Failure in conceptualschema " while extensive use of filter options.
