Hello Microsoft Community,
We are currently experiencing a significant problem and we need your help.
The company’s data is currently stored in an Azure SQL Managed Instance database.
Initially, we used an on-premises data gateway to establish a connection to the data for PowerBI reports.
However, we eventually decided to switch to a VNET data gateway as it offered improved reliability.
As a result, we had to get Power BI Premium subscriptions for all our users.
Our current objective is to transition to Microsoft Fabric
We tried to connect to the database using data factory and dataflows but we were unsuccessful.
It appears that only cloud connections are supported in Fabric.
So we diligently followed all the steps outlined in the following link: Use service tags with Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
When trying to connect we get the following error message:
“A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.) (Session ID: 32fa2749-5926-4c92-9264-5bb5be5f89fd, Region: europe)”
Could you please assist us in determining the cause of the issue?
Thanks so much.
