BUG - unable to publish report when save to onedrive function switched on

When using the new preview function of saving to onedrive and sharing, I'm not able to publish a report to the service. I'm able to choose the workspace where I want to upload the file but when hitting the publish button the "upload box" appears for half a second, then disappears and nothing happens. 

 

When I switch the preview function off and restart power bi desktop it works to publish to the service. 

 

Anyone else having the same issue?

No errors were reported? What version of Desktop are you using for testing?

@Anonymous | @Jostswe - I have the same experience, but I believe this is by design.  Power BI is expecting you to upload the file to the Workspace instead of Publishing to the Workspace.  Uploading will create a link between SharePoint and Power BI, so when future changes are made to the SharePoint version, they will be inclued in Power BI when the next refresh occurs.

Sorry for not getting back sooner.

 

The behaviour is still ocurring but has slightly changed. The "upload box" appears as normal, it's just that nothing happens when pressing the upload button.

This works for me too! I also noticed that the dataset refreshes automatically even though I don't have  scheduled a refresh in pbi service when just saving the report in power bi desktop.  Something to be a bit careful about.

My power bi version: 2.118.828.0 64-bit (juni 2023)

Windows 10.

 

On my other computer with windows 11 (I don't have the exact version of pbi desktop atm) the publish button in pbi desktop seems to work as normal with the preview function of sharing turned on.

And this was of course possible to turn off in the pbi service settings for the dataset so updates can be handled manually. All good then.

@Jostswe - it appears that Microsoft have updated Power BI Desktop mid-month to fix this issue.
