An error occurred while rendering the report

Hi all,

The last few days whenever I have been opening PBi desktop, I keep getting this error:

I am stuck in a endless loop of closing this and unfortantely any previous suggestions of clearing the cache has not worked.

Status: Investigating

Hi @san_dra09 ,

You can instead launch Power BI Desktop as administrator, which also allows Power BI Desktop to successfully open.

Power BI Desktop is engineered as a multiprocess architecture, and several of these processes communicate using Windows named pipes. There may be other processes that interfere with those named pipes. The most common reason for such interference is security, including situations where antivirus software or firewalls may block the pipes or redirect traffic to a specific port. Opening Power BI Desktop with administrator privilege may resolve that issue. If you can't open with administrator privilege, ask your administrator to determine which security rules are preventing named pipes from properly communicating. Then, add Power BI Desktop and its respective subprocesses to allowlists.

Best regards.

Hello,

Unfortunately that did not solve the issue.

I managed to recreate it and it only happens when I collapse and uncollapse panes (all of them so fields, visualisations, bookmarks etc).

I think we managed to get to the bottom of it

After two days, we deleted a card that had no data in it and that has stopped the error.

Why it created it in the first place, I would really wish to know

Maybe this problem shown because there is an empty visual, try to fill in the blank visual

Hi @san_dra09 ,

Have you tried the advice given by Mkts to see if it works?

Best regards.

I started having this issue since I've installed the last November 2023 Power BI release.

I've re installed BI, issue remains.
