edX Lab 7, Exercise 1: Unexpected Error connecting to Azure SQL Database

Hi,

I get an error when connecting to database "DAT207x01" on server "msedxeus.database.windows.net".

The error I receive is "Container exited unexpectedly with code 0xC0000005.  Used features: (none)."

I'm trying to connect to this database as part of the Microsoft EdX course "Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Power BI", during "Exercise 1" of "Lab 7".

This is blocking me from completing the course material.

Can someone please assist?

The problem persists after uninstalling and reinstalling Power BI Desktop.

Can anyone help with this?

@Mark-SC,

I am able to connect to this Azure SQL database in Power BI Desktop version 2.65.5313.1381. In your scenario, please type the server and database details instead of copy pasting.

Also please check if you can connect to the Azure SQL database in SQL Server Management Studio(SSMS). Make sure that SSMS is installed in the same machine with Power BI Desktop.

Regards,
Lydia

Hi Lydia,

Thanks for your response.  I am also running version 2.65.5313.1381.

I previously tried typing the server and database details instead of copy pasting, but I received the same error.  I have just tried typing again and it still does not fix the problem.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Mark

@Mark-SC,

What is the result when you connect to the database from SSMS?

Lydia

Hi Lydia,

I don't have SSMS.

Thanks
