Will not format column as date

Hello,

I am trying to create analytics with a column of dates. Format is m/d/y and I made sure the entire column is formated as "short date" in the excel source file, then refreshed. 

Also made sure that top row is the category row in PBI. 

Also set locale to US in PBI.

Still getting error: can't formate column as date.

Seems like the answer is just "no". Am I missing something?

Would you please share Excel and pbix file with us? Please remove sensitive data in your Excel and pbix file and upload it to your OneDrive or Dropbox and post the share link here.
