When select "Hide this item" on a report, the report gets disconnected from its datasource

When select "Hide this item" on a report in PBIRS , the report gets disconnected from its datasource. When "Hide this item" is unchecked, the report become unhidden, however the data source remains disconnected. My expectation is that report has to remain connected to its data source regardless of status of "Hide this item" checkbox.

Please advise.

What do you mean the report is disconnected to the data source after selecting "Hide this item" option? Does the issue happen to pbix file or rdl file? 

Based on my test with pbix file on Power BI report server 15.0.2.402, if we already configured data sources settings and test connection fine on report server, after selecting the "Hide this item", Test Connection is still fine on Data Sources page and the report can be rendered well. 

In your scenario, which Power BI report server version do you run? Please update to the latest version as ours then test again.

We had Power BI report server version 15.0.2.389. Once the server has been upgraded to version 15.0.2.402, the issue has been resolved.
