Unable to save report (local file) due to error

I have been encountering an error when trying to save Power BI reports.

This only seems to happen if I open a file then refresh a data source/table.

If i dont refresh but just make other changes I dont encounter the error.

I have already reinstalled PBI which resolved the problem but only for a few hours.

Please advise if more info required. I have enabled crashdump and tracing so if you can advise where i obtain the info from this i can provide

I am unable to reproduce this issue in Power  BI Desktop October release(2.63.3272.40461). What is your data source? What is your Power BI Desktop version?

My PBI Desktop version is:

Version: 2.63.3272.40262 32-bit (October 2018)

See below files in the Traces folder relating to the time of the latest issues.

Hopefully this is what you need but let me know if something else required and where i would find it!

Notes:

Again this issue has occurred after a fresh install.

I was able to refresh one datasoruce (from previous error) and save.

Then i tried another and the issue occurred again.

So the error has occurred with more than 1 datasource. One being excel, the other csv.

I notice the specific error message from above trace log.
"The process cannot access the file 'C:\\Users\\smithb\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\Power BI Desktop\\c8b6aea1-76b8-45ca-8a0d-799a48506813\\Caches\\941eb79e-5c3f-4076-a52d-7511ab71e6c6\\96810526-d8b7-4c64-9985-407d3b5b6582.dat' because it is being used by another process."

Please check that if your account has sufficient permission on the .dat file. If there are no issues about the permission, the issue could be caused by that the .dat file is occupied by other programs, you can use process explorer to check what other processes are using this file and kill the additional processes.

Thanks for the reply and apologies for delayed response.

This location/path doesnt seem to exist. Within the below location:

C:\Users\smithb\AppData\Local\Temp\Power BI Desktop\
I only have the below folder:

b45f22ff-bd73-44fb-a6cd-a804c4710cd1

Furthermore i still have the issue and latest logs for latest errors below (split to new msg due to size limit)

What operations do you take when you get the above new logs. I found the following error message in the log, you can check the solution about this error in this IBM article.

"ERROR [28000] [IBM][System i Access ODBC Driver]Communication link failure. comm rc=8271 - CWBSY0271 - No password (*NONE) associated with the user profile"

Hi Lydia,

Apologies i had a few error messages yesterday - i have to say I never had any of these issues until i upgraded to the October 18 version of PowerBI.

Anyway i seem to have resolved that by removing some redundant ODBC (to AS400) queries i had setup and copying to a new file.

I have the same save error today and have copied data directly from the 'Copy Details' link including the frown snapshot and performance traces.
