Trying to create a live connection to Lakehouse in PowerBI desktop

Hi Team,

Hope you are doing well!! Please note that while creating a live connection using CONNECT option for LAEKHOUSE, we are unable to access to data. It allows you to select the Lakehouse; post selecting WORKIN ON IT prompt appears and then everything goes blank where you are unable to select any other data sources too.

Looking forward to a resolution on the same.

Hi @wridz25 ,

I can't reproduce your problem, I can connect to Lakehouse normally in Power BI Desktop.
Power BI Desktop was released on 2/16/2024, please try updating to the latest version to see if that resolves your issue.

Best regards.

@Anonymous downloaded the new version of 2/16; however, the issue still persists. Are there any settings that needs to be enabled or disabled?

Hi @wridz25 ,

It doesn't seem to be a problem with the limit, you have a blank screen after the prompt appears, this issue may need to collect log files for further troubleshooting. Since community support engineers don't have that access, I would suggest opening a Support Ticket. If you are a Power BI Pro or Fabric licensee, you can create a support ticket for free and a dedicated Microsoft engineer will come to solve the problem for you.
It would be great if you continue to share in this issue to help others with similar problems after you know the root cause or solution.

@Vogels nope; there have been couple of updates published from POwerBI side; however, the issue still persists; we disabled preview features to verify, however no luck.

@wridz25

Lakehouses no longer create a default semantic model automatically.

To resolve this, go back in your lakehouse through the sql endpoint. Then press on the "manage default semantic model" button and select the tables you want to be included.
Press confirm and the default semantic model works as expected!

Microsoft confirmed this is not a bug, but the new way of working.
