Sort By Column will not work...without closing/reopening

The last couple months I have been having a hard time getting Sort By to work.  This is within a dimension table of locations, so there are not duplicates of location ID and there is not more than one sort value for the same target value.

I have to save my dataset, close, reopen, and then voila it magically does apply the Sort By without any error.  That is how I know I didn't set it up incorrectly, but why does this not work the first time?!  Saving/closing/reopening wastes a bunch of time, especially with our larger datasets (and perhaps also our VPN/Networks).

Would love to see this fixed.

Hi  @Josh_Boj ,

Are you using the latest version of Power BI Desktop?

Download Microsoft Power BI Desktop from Official Microsoft Download Center
I tried to do a simple test but it doesn't seem to reproduce the problem, any more information would be great.

Advocate I

Apologies, meant to state that I was on Nov '24 version.  I have it set to auto-update.

I'm not sure if our datasets are just large and have been used for years now.  Perhaps there is something going on due to so many relationships and/or incremental refresh or something.
