Slicer Not Updated in App

Hello,

 

I have a slicer whose format options, when modified, are not updated in the PBI service app.

I'm using PBI desktop to edit the report and it's then published to the PBI service. My PBI desktop application is version 2.98.1004.0 64-bit (October 2021).

 

The slicer is set to drop down presentation.

Under "Format > Selection controls", I have recently disabled "Single select" and enabled "Show Select all option".

 

The published report on PBI service correctly displays the slicer with multiple selection, and the select all option.

Despite updating that workspace's app multiple times, and waiting overnight, the slicer remains single selection on the app.

 

There are other issues like this from 2020 but none I saw have a resolution outside nuking the published report.

Hi,

According to my research and test, I think you need to click on the “Update app” on the right up corner to generate a new link, then you can go to the original APP page and click on page refresh, then the slicer format will update immediately.

Hi Robert,

 

I had been pressing the Update App button and hard refreshing the app page. The problem even persisted in Incognito mode, which I presumed eliminated client-side issues.

 

However your comment made me look for a refresh button in the app itself. Sure enough, clicking "Reset to Default" in the toolbar removed some kind of configuration and the control switched to using the new slicer formatting.

 

I'm not entirely sure why I saw that behaviour persist in Incognito mode. That implies something sat server-side and not in cookies. I can't say.

 

This is resolved, thanks for your help.

Thanks for this thread! I am having the exact same problem - couldnt see "select all" which I added on Friday. It wasn't refreshing no matter how many times I updated the app. I found the button "refresh all" and it's showing now. Thanks! Microsoft do need to look into this though - I get that the slicer changes shouldn't reflect in the app, but changes to the option on the slicer should definitely be updated! without another step! Thanks

having the same issue as above, i tried to delete the content in 'Update app' option, updated the app, and click 'Update App' again, add the newly published report back in, update the app again, and somehow it works
