RFM analysis

Hi Everyone, 

If we have a dataset of 1000 customers in three years from 2020 to 2022. for the Customer segmentation report in October 2022, do we have to run RFM for all 1000 of data and then report customer segments that have a transaction in October 2022, or first filter down the dataset for October 2022 and run RFM for that one month?

I hope anyone can make this clear to me, thanks.
