Publishing To Power BI Work Space Issues

I have a Power Query database that is maintaned by a co worker on the west coast.  I have been asked to take the database and load it into Power BI with the end product emulating the report  (all pages).  I have imported the database and I have recreated all of the pages which are pivot tables.  The data base consists of multiple fact tables and dimension tables.

When I go to publish the report to my workspace I am asked if I want to save my changes but when I say yes I am told that I can not.  That is because to source files are on my co-workers PC on the west coast.  I am still able to publish the report but not all of the pages load.  One of the pages is a visual built using Python, which Python is loaded on my PC, not my co-workers PC that is on the west coast.  My question is:   Is my issue, not being able to load all of the pages in the report due to the source files being on the west coast, on a different PC, and the visual I built on Python which is on my PC in Texas causing the issue?  I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out why I can't load all of the pages in the report.

I am also getting an error when I try to load the visual:  matplotlib.units.ConversionError: Failed to convert value(s) to axis units: 'Maintenance'.

Hi @bkanderso

So what is your source data ? Power Query database in your o-workers PC on the west coast ? Did you have the access to the data source ? If you connect to the data source with DQ or LC connection mode , you also need to  configure gateway to get data from local data source .

On he firat of each month my co-worker that is located on the west coast updates a power pivot data model and forwards this data model out to over 200 users of the data.  He mantains the master files on his work computer and when he updates the data and uploads the data, connection only to the data model.  Once he has updated the model he forwards the report (excel workbook) that has multiple workseets, pivot tables, and a visual built with VBA out to all of the customers.  I do not have direct access to the master files.  I also have not set up a gateway.

I have been asked to explore the feasibility of uploading the model (workbook) into Power BI, and define a requirements document that lays out what is required to publish the Power BI (PBIX) to a Sharepoint site.  I work for the Navy.  The Navy has Office 365 Premium service, and we have a Sharepoint site.  The report (workbook ) has a visual that is built with VBA.  I am in the process of recreating the visual using Python in Power BI.  Your team has been helping me with creating the visual here on the community web-site.  I have most of it built with exception of adding a couple of conditional statements that will display the data markers (Stars) with a different color border if the score values are less then are equal to 0.

I hope this explains my previous question:

Here is my response again in case you did not get it.

On the first of each month my co-worker that is located on the west coast updates a power pivot data model and forwards this data model out to over 200 users of the data.
