PowerBI performance is very poor, high CPU, memory at 100% when connecting to an Azure SQL database.

Hi,

I just noticed that the performance for my report is very poor when using Import and a SQL server database connection: high CPU, memory 100% - app not responsive. I have collected the perfoemnce logs in case need to investigate.

 

Are there any recomandations or guidelines to improve performance?

First, make sure your Desktop is up to date.

 

what size of the dataset that you import into power bi desktop?

 different size of data model loaded into Power BI desktop will consume different memory. Also, manay factors might affect the memory utilization of imported data model, please refer to below links to get more suggestion about how to check the memory usage of your Power BI Desktop data model and how to reduce memory utilization:

and also try to disable "allow data preview to download in the background"
