Power automate for power bi visual fails when a dashboard is embedded in sharepoint

When you embed a Power BI dashboard in a sharepoint page (using 'Embed in Sharepoint Online' option) that uses the power automate for power bi visual, the visual will fail to trigger the power automate flow.   The same dashboard shared as a app.powerbi.com dashboard works fines, and triggers the power automate flow as expected.

Steps to reproduce this bug:

1. Create a simple dashboard. Add a power automate for power bi visual, and link to a flow. Publish and test that it works (trigger the power automate visual on the dashboard).

2. Take the same dashboard, with the same user permissions, and share it to a sharepoint page using these microsoft instructions: Embed a report web part in SharePoint Online - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

3. Trigger the power automate visual on the dashboard, note that it fails...

Result I expected:

* Flow triggers.
* Visual button should say 'Triggering', and then 'Triggered...'.

What actually happened:

A. Flow is not triggered (does not run the flow).

B. The button (visual) appears stuck, and shows 'Triggering', and this never changes. Pressing again makes no difference.

C. In the browser, the following error is logged to browser console when the button is pressed.

"Uncaught (in promise) Visual [FlowVisual_XXXXXXX] is not authorized."

(Note, 'XXXXXXX' is me redacting a code, I am not sure whether it is safe to post the ID that was there).

Hi @grantnz ,

It's not supported now.

You may check the limitations below:

  • Additional manual inputs to the button aren't supported at this time. We plan to add support for this by the general availability release.
  • Currently, we only have a few built-in templates; we plan to add more based on user feedback.
  • The visual will only display flows within your default environment. We plan to add support for an environment selector by the general availability release.
  • The visual isn't supported for embedded analytics.
  • The visual isn't supported in sovereign clouds.
  • The visual doesn't work in Publish to Web (public) scenarios, because unauthenticated scenarios aren't supported by Power Automate.
  • The visual isn't certified while in preview. We plan to have complete certification by the general availability release.
