Power BI Desktop freezes when saving

Hello,

Starting today, Power BI Desktop freezes every time I try to save. 

This happend to me and at least one other colleague.

The freezing does not prevent the saving itself so far, but I need to restart Power BI Desktop after each time I save my Report.

 

Has anyone had a similar issue so far or any suggestion to resolve it?

Hi all, Thank you so much for sharing all your similar experiences. Rolling back to January seems to be the best workaround to keep work going. Any progress by Microsoft on this topic so far you can report of @Anonymous ?

Same exact problems. Besides rolling back to Jan 2025 version (which I haven't tried yet), I found a possible solution that every time I make changes in the Query Editor, I choose "Close & Apply" instead of "Apply." Also, when I want to click Save, I close the Query Editor before clicking. A bit cumbersome for sure, opening and closing the Query Editor, but better than losing work and having to restart the whole application over and over.

Is there any resolution to this? Or even communication since two weeks ago? This issue leaves our enterprise literally unable to use the service we're paying for

@danrope Please see the temp workaround our company has been using before a new version is released. Either revert back to Jan 2025 or use the workaround I posted above.

@zhoura345 I'm not using Query Editor - so this seemingly doesn't apply to me. Every time I save it freezes at "Working On It" and I don't know how to roll back to previous version (January 2025)

@danrope, it's far from ideal to have to do a workaround but this definitely works:

  1. Close Query Editor (without applying changes)
  2. Save PBIX (without applying changes)
  3. Apply changes
  4. Save PBIX

 

@Anonymous(Community Support) can you please give an update when this issue with the Power Query Editor is fixed please?
