Monthly trend Line to work properly in a line chart when date is limited to two months only

I wanted to show a trend line by month in a line chart. I am using a date table in the Data model. When I limit the date only to two months, it shows the trend by date, not month. When I limit it to more than two months, it shows by month. Seems like there must be enough data points for the Power BI engine to calculate a meaningful trend. Can you make a monthly trend line option available in a line chart when there are at least two months available in the X-axis?
