Microsoft Fabric vs Power BI Premium Capacity

Hello All,

I have a premium P1 capacity workspace and am able to utilize the Fabric features, but am wondering whether it makes sense to upgrade to fabric capacity. Will all of the features be removed from the premium workspace once Fabric features are out of preview? Is the premium workspace essentially fabric capacity plus more governance?

Hi  @Abishek_DBI ,

A P1 Power BI Premium per capacity provides the same power as an F64 Fabric capacity, a P2 Power BI Premium capacity provides the power of an F128 Fabric capacity and so forth.

As for your question about whether the features will be removed from the premium workspace once Fabric features are out of preview, I couldn’t find any specific information about this. However, it’s mentioned that if you’re using a Power BI Premium capacity, Microsoft Fabric items aren’t enabled. To enable support for Microsoft Fabric items on your Power BI capacity, you need to enable Microsoft Fabric.

In terms of governance, Power BI Premium provides a comprehensive portfolio of Premium features. It offers dependable, consistent performance for your content. Each capacity offers a selection of SKUs, and each SKU provides different resource tiers for memory and computing power. Hello,

Thank you for your response. In our premium workspaces, we have fabric functionality enabled. Is it required for the workspace to be migrated to fabric capacity to continue to utilize the fabric functionalities? I am wondering whether the fabric capacity or premium capacity has more features and I would like to have the best of both worlds. If I am already on premium and it would by default include the fabric features once it is out of preview then it wouldnt make sense for us to move to a fabric capacity. Alternatively if fabric capacity includes both premium and fabric functionality, it would make sense to do the migration to fabric capacity.

I'd like some clarification on this too. Will all my Fabric workloads still work on my P2 after the preview ends?

I would like to know more about this as well. Currently on PPU. We are wanting to leverage Fabric. I want to understand which capacity we should purchase. Should we purchase Power BI Capacity or Fabric Capacity. There seems to be a price difference. What is one giving you that the other is not?

In my organizatoin I can see Power BI Embeded capacity is assigned in the Admin Portal.

I tried to use Fabric Deployment Pipeline and it keeps failing for SKU issue.

Is it something that I need to assign Fabric Capacity so that I can use the Fabric Deployment Pipline features?
