Microsoft Fabric free isn't currently available for your work or school account

We would like to access a dashboard created by a vender created with MS Power BI. We were told to go to https://app.powerbi.com and create a free account. When we try, we get “Microsoft Fabric free isn't currently available for your work or school account”. The users trying have Office 365 G3 GCC licenses. How can we get a free Power BI/Microsoft Fabric account?

Hello @marysvillemike , have you spoken with your Tenant Administrator about this? If not, that should be your first step. You should also discuss the sharing mentioned to ensure there are no issues with accessing the shared content from the vendor.

Hi @marysvillemike

You will need to notify your administrator to create and assign you all an account. And make sure that the account has a license to access the report. in addition to this, you need to make sure that your account has access to the report. You can refer your administrator to the following documentation for details.

Add users and assign licenses in Microsoft 365 - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

Request or grant access to dashboards or reports - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Looks like maybe a permision issue??? becouse the user can access the dashbord now through a link provided by the vendor. I still get the same error... but the site was never intended for me.

Hi @marysvillemike

https://app.powerbi.com is a Commercial version , the Office 365 G3 GCC licenses you mentiened are GCC version . His corresponding access link is https://app.powerbigov.us

So if you use your Office 365 G3 GCC licenses account to access the link that the vendor gave you guys, it's not going to work. You need to find the vendor's administrator and ask them to provide you with an account that can access their content. As for how to create the relevant account, you can refer them to the documentation mentioned above. After making sure that your account and license are okay, then go ahead and troubleshoot the permission issue !
You can refer to the following documentation about the differences between Power BI Service for different environments .
