Compete to become Power BI Data Viz World Champion! First round ends August 18th. Get started.

KPIs are not shown in their display folders, but directly under a tables

In Tabular Editor I put all KPIs and other measures in display folders like this:

But Power BI (both the service and the desktop client) pulls the KPIs out from their folders and lists them directly under the table in the field list:

Is it supposed to be like this?

Hi @Anonymous ,

The display format seems by design in Power BI report view, both in current versions and previous versions.

Actually it was in the folder when you see it in the model view.

Hi @v-yingjl!

It still seems broken to me that you can put KPIs in folders in the modelling view (or by using Tabular Editor), but that the report view still puts them back directly under the table. Even Excel does this right (this is the from the same model as in my original post):

You sure this isn't a bug? I could have sworn that PowerBI.com did this correctly a few months ago.

Here's a screenshot from the Power BI blog way back in February 2016:

I quote: "In this update, we’re also adding support for Display Folders when using Analysis Services Exploration mode. Display Folders will show up in the Fields pane when in this mode and provide a more logical grouping of fields and easier navigation experience within the Analysis Services model."

This is how I would expect to find all my KPIs: Neatly placed in their corresponding display folders.

Any updates on this, @v-yingjl ?
